Project Engineer – Civil Infrastructure & Urban Development
Location: South East Queensland & Northern NSW (major growth corridors)
Employment Type: Full-time
About the Company
Our client is a leading civil contractor with a strong track record delivering large-scale civil infrastructure and urban development projects across Australia. With a national turnover exceeding $1b, they are well established yet growing rapidly in Queensland and Northern NSW. Their projects span residential subdivisions, marine, roadworks, utilities, drainage, bulk earthworks, and master-planned estates, supported by long-term developer and government partnerships.
The Opportunity
Due to significant project wins and a strong forward pipeline, an opportunity exists for a Project Engineer to join the civil team. You’ll support Project Managers across a variety of civil projects throughout SE QLD and N NSW, typically valued between $3m and $12m.
Based out of one of the regional hub offices, you’ll work closely with site and engineering teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Project Managers in delivering a diverse portfolio of civil infrastructure and urban development projects.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and in-house services (survey, traffic, plant, landscaping).
- Monitor project costs, budgets, and forecasts with a strong focus on financial control.
- Assist with construction programming, methodologies, and compliance with environmental and safety requirements.
- Manage project documentation, QA/ITPs, and technical reporting.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and authorities to maintain strong relationships.
- Contribute to team development by guiding junior engineers and supervisors.
Skills & Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
- 3–6 years’ experience across civil infrastructure, marine, land development, roads, drainage, or utilities.
- Strong technical understanding of bulk earthworks, pavements, services, and structures.
- Proven experience with cost management, contracts, and commercial decision-making.
- Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple projects or stages.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and environmental standards.
