A large Federal Government Department is seeking an experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Gateway) to join their ICT team. This role provides the opportunity to deliver secure and scalable infrastructure, enabling major government programs supporting millions of Australians.

Responsibilities

Design, evaluate and implement infrastructure to meet future demand.

Provide expert technical support for build, test, and solution deployment.

Prepare, review, and maintain design, implementation, and test documentation.

Contribute to strategies, operational policies, and change initiatives.

Provide specialist technical and strategic advice to senior executives.

Mentor less experienced colleagues and share subject matter expertise.

Research emerging technologies and advise on product suitability.

Partner with other agencies and suppliers to build ICT capability.

Manage disaster recovery, high availability, and backup solutions.

Maintain patches, support packages, and secure gateway operations.

Essential Skills and Experience

Minimum 5 years’ experience in internet gateway and/or large-scale data centre networking environments.

Strong design and implementation experience across:

Cisco Data Centre technologies (ACI, routers, Nexus switches, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP).

F5/Blue Coat load balancing/proxy systems.

Palo Alto firewalls and IPS solutions.

VPN, email and DNS (Infoblox) solutions.

Hybrid and public cloud integration.

Experience producing and maintaining system architecture and design documentation.

Knowledge of ASD ISM and Essential Eight requirements.
