An opportunity has been created with one of Sydney's foremost educational establishments for an exceptional Facilities professional to ensure the continuous evolution of their state-of-the-art facilities that provide a first-class experience for students and staff. Based at the main Sydney precinct, with added responsibility over several satellite campuses, you will provide strategic leadership and operational management to your team. Your remit will be to ensure the facilities are organised, presented, developed and operated as would befit such a historic organisation.

Your major task will be to assess the existing process and develop and implement a proactive strategy for maintenance and utilities management to ensure the safe, reliable and cost-effective operation of the built assets and utility infrastructure. You will lead the Maintenance Team and direct staff and contractors to deliver preventative and reactive maintenance and provide set-up support for activities and events. You will contribute your expertise and provide specialist trade and facilities advice to the Facilities Team in the areas of building, construction and asset management.

Your remit will include:

• Preparing, managing and leading the development and implementation of the Maintenance Strategy, systems and plans for the built environment

• Organise and manage staff and contractors to complete preventative and reactive maintenance tasks on time, to a high standard and within budget

• Lead the Maintenance Team to troubleshoot issues, repair and maintain built assets and utility infrastructure in a safe, effective and affordable manner

• Generate and distribute maintenance works orders to the Maintenance Team and contractors

• Ensure contractors receive an induction and supervised whilst onsite undertaking maintenance works

• Provide sound building advice and knowledge to help the Maintenance Team with day-to-day maintenance repairs

• Senior-level interaction and negotiation with service providers, stakeholders and internal clients.

You will be:

• Experienced in preventative maintenance and fault detection

• Trade or Tertiary qualified in building or similar

• A proficient problem solver and collaborative communicator who can inspire innovation and excellence throughout the team and the establishment.

• Knowledgeable in building systems asset management practices and construction fundamentals

• Experienced managing large complex buildings including aquatic facilities

• Skilled with BMS systems

• Ideally had exposure in the Education, Health, Defence or Aged Care sector

• A team player with a strong sense of community and collaboration

• Gifted with incisive leadership and strategic improvement to progress and manage the operation of this portfolio.

You will instil a positive and high-performance ethos in your team and through your leadership and analysis of existing systems, you will ensure that cutting-edge improvement to all aspects of service delivery will be provided.
