The Opportunity

Vision Surveys is seeking a Rail Survey Manager to lead the delivery of established rail shutdown projects in Central Queensland. This is a hands-on leadership role: you’ll be in the field managing shutdowns directly in the initial stages, while working with the General Manager to build a sustainable local team and capability. The role also offers the chance to collaborate with other Vision branches across Queensland, ensuring resources and expertise are shared to deliver consistent outcomes.

What You’ll Be Doing

Manage the full shutdown cycle: planning, calculations, design, on-site delivery, QA and client reporting

Lead 1–2 shutdowns per month, coordinating 4–6 surveyors across day and night shifts

Be actively present in the field to ensure quality, accuracy and safe delivery

Build and mentor a Rockhampton-based team to support long-term rail capability

Collaborate with other Vision branches to share resources and strengthen delivery

Develop and maintain strong client relationships to ensure repeat work and reputation for reliability

About You

Proven rail surveying experience, ideally with shutdown exposure.

Strong civil or construction surveying background with proficiency in 12d design and reporting

Hands-on leader who is confident working in the field as well as guiding teams

Track record in QA, compliance, reporting and client management

Based in Rockhampton or committed to the region’s growth (FIFO considered)

Practical and delivery-focused, with scope to contribute to business development as the role grows.

Registration with Surveyors Board of Queensland (SBQ) is desirable

Must have full Australian working rights with no restrictions
