About Us

At the City of Stirling, we’re proud to be WA’s largest local government, serving over 243,000 residents. With a workforce of 1,500 people, we’re a dynamic, community-focused organisation committed to creating a Safe, Supported and Strong Stirling.

Safety is more than a priority—it’s a culture. This newly created role reflects our commitment to embedding safety across all levels of our Infrastructure Directorate, ensuring our people, contractors, and community thrive in a safe environment.

Why You’ll Love This Role

You’ll be at the forefront of safety leadership, driving the integration of our WHS management system across diverse operational services, with a focus on contractor management. From engineering and parks to waste and fleet, you’ll empower teams to deliver safe systems of work and elevate safety governance.

This is your chance to shape the future of safety at Stirling—coaching teams, influencing culture, and ensuring compliance with evolving legislation. You’ll work closely with senior leaders and the WHS Manager to deliver tangible, scalable safety outcomes.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead the implementation of WHS frameworks across Infrastructure
  • Champion safety culture and continuous improvement
  • Provide expert advice on WHS legislation and operational risks
  • Support WHS contractor management across the contract lifecycle
  • Undertake contractor audits, inspections, and risk assessments
  • Develop and report on safety objectives and performance
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to embed safety into everyday operations

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for a proactive safety leader with strong technical expertise and a passion for making a difference. You’ll ideally bring:

  • Tertiary qualification in Health & Safety or equivalent senior experience
  • Proven success in embedding safety within complex organisations
  • Deep understanding of WHS legislation and standards
  • Experience in contractor WHS compliance and procurement processes
  • Strong communication, coaching, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Excellent planning, reporting, and time management abilities
  • Current Driver’s Licence and National Police Clearance
