Salary/Level: Level 4, $95,782 - $100,526 p.a. plus Superannuation
Tenure Fixed-term (until 31 July 2026), Full-time (with the possibility of extension or permanency)
Location: Perth Zoo, Western Australia
This position works as a senior member of the zoology team, leading the delivery of high-standard daily care to assigned species, and supporting Perth Zoo objectives. This position contributes to problem-solving and project opportunities, promotes the physical and behavioural health of animals, and mentors Technical Officers to administer quality husbandry for species under care. This position operates within a strong safety culture and follows defined Workplace Health, Safety & Wellbeing policies and procedures, including the Zoo’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Selection Criteria
- Certificate III in Wildlife & Exhibited Animal Care or an industry equivalent certification.
- Applied, high-level biological knowledge and extensive experience in the husbandry and management of wildlife in a zoo or similar environment.
- Demonstrated experience with successful mentorship of technical staff to achieve organisational objectives.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to effectively communicate to varied stakeholders, and to use contemporary office software.
- Demonstrated understanding of and experience with the application of health, safety & wellbeing principles and practices in in a zoo or similar environment.
- Experience in planning and coordinating activities and/or projects in a zoo or similar environment.
- Experience in the active support of conservation and the communication of a conservation and biodiversity ethos to the public.
Note: Applicants who demonstrate significant experience in the husbandry and management of exotic carnivore and/or ungulate species in a zoo or similar environment will be highly regarded.
