We, Obrien Criminal and Civil Solicitors, are looking for an experienced Accounts Manager to process and record all financial transactions in our practice. This full-time role will manage and perform all accounting duties in our fast-paced legal practice and ensure strict compliance to our legal and regulatory obligations.
Responsibilities
accurately record financial transactions, such as invoices, bills, and budgets. Maintain records relating to accounts payable and receivable.
keep up to date with bank reconciliations, including trust accounting.
prepare and send invoices to client and external stakeholders (e.g., Legal Aid).
execute accurate reporting, filing, and database management in multiple systems. Prepare and interpret financial summaries and provide reports to managers on a daily/weekly/monthly basis
ensure compliance with tax regulations and any year-end audit request.
Communicate with clients and provide general information on their invoices and trust statements.
Solve problems and alert supervisory staff of any discrepancies.
assisting in formulating budgetary and accounting policies
preparing financial statements for presentation to boards of directors, management, shareholders, and governing and statutory bodies
conducting financial investigations, preparing reports, undertaking audits and advising on matters such as the purchase and sale of businesses, mergers, capital financing, suspected fraud, insolvency and taxation
examining operating costs and organisations' income and expenditure
providing assurance about the accuracy of information contained in financial reports and their compliance with statutory requirements
providing financial and taxation advice on business structures, plans and operations
liaising with financial institutions and brokers to establish funds management arrangements
introducing and maintaining accounting systems, and advising on the selection and application of computer-based accounting systems
maintaining internal control systems
Required skills and qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics or related field (essential)
Knowledge of financial, tax, and bookkeeping principles.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency with Xero in processing financial transactions.
Knowledge of legal trust reconciliation.
Bonus: proficiency with the legal software Clio.
