We are currently seeking an enthusiastic COST ACCOUNTANT to join our Finance team based in Balcatta, Perth, Western Australia.
Summary
The Cost Accountant is responsible for applying accounting principles to compile, maintain, and analyse financial data related to budgeting, costing, and operational performance. This role supports the organisation’s financial reporting requirements through timely and accurate cost investigations and analysis, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and internal controls.
Essential Skills / Experience:
- Prepares reports, reconciliations and analysis of results, including investigation of variances and their interpretation on costing related GL codes including production P&Ls;
- Responsible for manufacturing/production accounting, including efficiencies reporting, variance investigation, working with machine centres, labour hours, Std costing, PPV;
- Prepares estimates of new or proposed products and/or services;
- Computes cost value of Work In Progress (WIP) for Inventory purposes;
- Oversees cyclical and other periodical stock-take activities in conjunction with the Supply Chain Manager and collates information for financial reporting;
- Calculates, reports, & controls the Inventory Usage Provision account as per Halma Policy, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of the reports meet requirements and due dates and collates positively with Supply Chain on low usage items and actions to improve;
- Sets and controls Inter-Company price lists according to the Transfer Pricing agreement, ensuring item list is current and maintained. Assists Supply Chain on administrating supplier price lists within Business Central;
- Group Central point of contact for IFRS 16;
- Operations KPI's, Sales by country, sales by existing ad new and other splits,Installs, modifies, documents, and coordinates implementation of accounting systems and accounting control procedures;
- Reconcile Warranty Provision Account to Business Central Database;
- Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company
procedures;
- Analysis of the day-to-day & month-end product analysis inc labour, overhead, recoveries and efficiencies.
Qualifications, Education and/or Experience
- Professional self-improvement and to maintain a high standard of knowledge and expertise to enable growth with the organisation;
- University Degree in Business and/or Finance and/or Commerce or equivalent preferably in a Cost discipline;
- Minimum of three to five years related experience and/or training in financial management;
- Eligibility of membership to a professional accounting association – CA, ACA, AASA, CPA ICMA or equivalent recognised body and if not, working towards an ongoing commitment to achieving professional development;
