Senior Town Planner - NSW Government

Assignment Duration: ASAP start – anticipated until 6 March 2026
Rate: $750 per day + super
Hours: 40 hrs/week (8 hrs/day)
Location: Orange (minimum 2 days per week in office) - hybrid WFH

We’re seeking experienced Senior Town Planners to join a high-profile NSW government program, providing statutory planning expertise to support infrastructure projects across the state.

In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring compliance with planning legislation for a diverse range of upgrade and maintenance works. You’ll work closely with Asset Management teams to identify, document, and deliver planning requirements and pathways, while fostering strong working relationships and building capability within the team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide statutory planning advice to ensure projects meet legal and compliance requirements.
• Identify and document planning requirements and pathways for capital works and maintenance projects.
• Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to strengthen planning capability and processes.
• Engage with both internal teams and external agencies to navigate approvals efficiently.

About You:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in town planning, already operating at Senior Planner level.
• Strong background in both Part 4 and Part 5 assessment.
• Experience gained within both local government and private consultancy is highly desirable.
• Deep knowledge of the NSW Planning System and relevant legislation.
• Self-motivated, highly autonomous, and confident in delivering planning solutions.
