Power BI Consultant – Power Apps & Automation Focus

We are seeking a motivated and highly skilled Power BI Consultant for an immediate-start 3-month contract engagement. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in building impactful business intelligence solutions, with advanced capabilities in Data Modelling and Dashboards.

This role is particularly suited to candidates who excel at bridging technical development with business needs, and who can deliver end-to-end analytics and low-code solutions with minimal supervision in fast-paced, project-driven environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Dashboard Design & Development: Build, enhance, and maintain enterprise-grade Power BI dashboards and reports, applying UX best practices and data visualisation principles.

Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports that deliver clear and actionable insights.

Build and optimise data models (DAX, Power Query, M language) to support enterprise-level reporting.

Partner with stakeholders to gather requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and deliver solutions that meet business needs.

Implement best practices for Power BI governance, including dataset certification, row-level security, and workspace management.

Integration & Sourcing: Connect Power BI reports to a variety of data sources including SQL Server, SharePoint, Excel, and APIs.

Collaboration & Delivery: Engage with stakeholders to gather requirements, prototype solutions, and support user testing and deployment.

Documentation & Support: Develop high-quality documentation for solutions, processes, and user guides, enabling sustainable handover and knowledge sharing.

Governance & Best Practice: Apply governance frameworks, naming conventions, and security best practices across Power Platform solutions.

Requirements:

Must have Australian working rights.

Experience: 5–10 years in analytics, reporting, or business intelligence roles.

Proven experience delivering Power BI solutions in an enterprise setting.

Technical Skills:

Advanced proficiency in DAX, Power Query (M), and Data Modelling.

Implement best practices for Power BI governance, including dataset certification, row-level security, and workspace management.

Drive automation and efficiency by integrating data from multiple sources (SQL, Azure, Databricks, Snowflake cloud-based warehouses).

Comfortable working with REST APIs and integrating various data services.

Stakeholder Engagement: Confident communicator with the ability to understand business problems and translate them into technical solutions.

Availability: Must be available for immediate start on a full-time 3-month contract.

Delivery Experience: Prior experience in agile or hybrid delivery models, ideally with project exposure in finance, operations, or HR domains.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience embedding Power BI into SharePoint or Teams.

Exposure to Power BI Service administration and workspace management.

Experience of having worked with Qlik, SAP, Databricks, Snowflake & Denodo is a bonus.
