Automation Engineer – BRE Services
Join BRE Services as it translates potential into client results by harnessing the power of Industry 4.0.
BRE Services is a trusted leader in industrial solutions, specialising in electrical, automation, and mechanical services for some of Australia’s most respected national brands.
Based in Melbourne, with a national project footprint, we deliver reliable, innovative automation solutions that improve efficiency, safety, and performance across food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, logistics and other critical sectors.
We’re not here to ride the wave of Industry 4.0 — we’re here to lead it. By combining deep expertise in automation with electrical and mechanical capability, we’re driving our team and our clients into the next era of smart, connected, and efficient industry.
As demand grows, attracting exceptional talent aligned with our mission is critical. Led by engineers and tradespeople who live and breathe automation and technology, BRE Services offers more than jobs — we offer standout careers built alongside innovators who are driven by curiosity and committed to creating smarter, safer, and more sustainable ways to work.
Automation Engineers, this is your chance to set the standard in automation
We are looking for automation engineers who are hungry for direct exposure to major service and project work with globally recognised brands, and future focused, transformative businesses.
By deploying your capabilities at BRE Services, your ability and expertise will directly drive innovation that shape industries and translate client ambitions into results that optimise operations.
In turn, you’ll be given the opportunity to lead a team that is highly collaborative, at the centre of automation’s evolution while applying world-class tools and technologies to projects that demand insight, creativity, and vision for what’s next.
The Opportunity
As an Automation Engineer at BRE Services, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional service and take full ownership of projects from strategic design through to delivery. Working with globally recognised brands across diverse industries, you’ll develop client relationships directly, translating innovative technical ability into outcomes that shape industries and create measurable impact.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop PLC, HMI, and SCADA applications to meet client requirements.
Commission and validate automation solutions on-site, ensuring systems function safely and efficiently.
Diagnose faults, troubleshoot, and provide ongoing technical support.
Prepare documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and manuals.
Ensure compliance with Australian Standards (AS/NZS 3000, AS 61508, WHS Act).
Collaborate with project managers, electricians, and mechanical teams to deliver turnkey solutions.
Contribute to innovation and adoption of emerging Industry 4.0 technologies (robotics, IoT, data integration).
About You
You’re an experienced Automation Engineer who wants ownership, impact, and pace. You have experience working on complex PLC/SCADA systems in production environments, you’re as comfortable in front of a client as you are on the tools, and you think two steps ahead.
A-Grade electrical qualification, or have a Bachelors in Electrical, Mechatronics, or Automation Engineering (or equivalent).
Proven end-to-end delivery: design → programming → commissioning → handover.
Depth with PLC/HMI/SCADA (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider, Ignition/WinCC/Citect) and industrial communications (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, OPC UA).
Sharp diagnostics, clean documentation, and an uncompromising approach to WHS and Australian Standards.
Client-facing confidence: you can translate technical decisions into commercial outcomes.
Collaborative by default; able to mentor, lift standards, and lead when it counts.
Valid Australian work rights and driver’s licence.
This role is for high performers who want to lead significant work and be measured by meaningful outcomes, not time served.
Cultural Fit
We’re proud of the culture we’ve built and hire deliberately for fit. Professionalism and technical excellence matter as much as collaboration, consideration, commitment, and being down-to-earth. With this intent, we’ve created a workplace our people are proud of, cohesive enough that colleagues become lifelong friends, and every individual is seen, valued, and supported.
What We Offer
At BRE Services, our culture of innovation is fuelled by the capabilities of our multidisciplinary team of automation engineers, skilled tradespeople and industry specialists - people with the power to transform industries. We believe success is best when shared, and as we grow, your drive and expertise in innovation and execution will create impact for our clients while building recognised milestones in your own career path.
Our employee benefits support these ambitions, and include:
Competitive remuneration that reflects your impact — with clear progression benchmarks and regular reviews, and a commitment to rewarding excellence as we grow.
Project ownership on major programmes with globally recognised brands — real accountability and clear line of sight to results.
Career acceleration through tailored development pathways, an annual training and skills development allowance, vendor certifications, and exposure to next-gen tech (robotics, IIoT, data integration).
National project footprint with Melbourne base; hybrid flexibility when not on site.
Genuine investment in you: professional development, structured progression, and leadership opportunities as we scale.
Benefits that grow with the business: An industry-leading employee loyalty program that rewards commitment with real, financial value, Employee Assistance Program, access to large-scale industries and technologies, plus an evolving benefits suite aligned to our growth trajectory.
