Salary Range: $70,179 - $77,464 + Superannuation

The Role

Reporting to the Coordinator Water Services, this position will be primarily responsible for the day-to-day supervision of staff and operations.

To be successful in this role, you will be required to have proven leadership experience. In addition, you will also need to have at least a Certificate III in Water Operations, and a HR Driver’s Licence. Other trade qualifications in plumbing, building or a related field is preferable.

To be a successful Team Leader, you will need to be an effective problem-solver, with strong interpersonal and communication skills. You will also need to be a motivated individual, with the ability to work well and effective both autonomously and as a part of a team.

As part of this role, you will be required to participate in a rotating on-call roster (approximately 5–6 weeks per year) plus be available for after-hours emergency works (award allowances are applied).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organise resources to deliver a program of proactive scheduled work, resolve reactive network problems to undertake best practice maintenance practices for Council’s water and waste water treatment.
  • Supervise, motivate and guide directly reporting staff.
  • Operate and maintain assigned plant effectively, safely and in accordance with standing operating procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with Council’s WHS policies and with legislative requirements or regulations.
  • Ensure the WTP operations is inline with Councils Drinking Water Management System.
  • Accurately perform water and wastewater treatment operational works required to maintain Council’s water network. This would typically include but not be limited to; the operation of medium and small plant and hand tools, and applying water quality and treatment principles, techniques, systems and processes.
  • Quality check work, identify and remediate defects.
  • Maintain accurate records within Council’s records management system.
  • Work constructively and cooperatively with other members of the department to complete work programs in accordance with agreed timeframes and standards.
  • Apply WHS and risk management systems in accordance with Council’s policies and procedures.
  • Complete assigned administrative tasks accurately in accordance with Council’s policies and procedures.
  • Maintain required qualifications essential for the position and undertake agreed training to meet the position’s desired skill level.
  • Participate in on-call duties as required.
  • Provide quality administration support as required.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualification and/ or willingness to undertake professional development.
  • Relevant experience in Civil construction and maintenance.
  • Holder of current HR licence
  • Holder of WHS Construction Induction Certificate
  • Detailed knowledge and/or working experience of water and waste water operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve
  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge in use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability and continued commitment to work according to Councils' policies and Code of Conduct, with or without supervision.
  • Current valid NSW Class C Drivers Licence (ongoing employment is conditional on maintaining this Licence).
