Position overview
We are seeking a full time Veterinary Nurse to join our team. In this nursing role you will be required to assist with a variety of nursing duties. The candidate will need to be highly motivated, friendly, efficient, an empathetic nurse that can provide a high level of patient care, follow direction and work well with a team. Ideally the candidate is an experienced GP nurse, confident and skilled in clinical procedures, surgical monitoring and preparation and effective communication skills when dealing with clients and teammates. The ability to work shift work is essential, although we try and maintain a set roster.
Key responsibilities
· Assist in preparation and administration of medications and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian
· Admitting patients for surgical or medical procedures (including emergencies), supporting Vets in clinical examinations, blood collection, catheter and intravenous fluid placement, laboratory testing, and preparing animals for surgical procedures.
· Undertake routine nursing tasks such placement of IV catheters, blood collection, radiology, patient monitoring, accurate record keeping and excellent animal handling skills
· Support vets in surgery, conducting anaesthetics and monitoring during surgeries
· Supporting vets in treating medical cases and helping in consults
· Assisting vets with radiographs & ultrasounds.
· Monitoring observations, instrument cleaning and sterilising, and theatre preparation.
· Feeding, medicating & providing general care for dogs, cats, pocket pets, birds, exotics & wildlife.

· Ensure the clinic is kept clean and the strict hygiene requirements are maintained
· Ability to provide support with the daily running of the veterinary clinic
Key Requirements
· Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (completed or in progress) or equivalent
· Ideally three years’ experience in GP veterinary nursing
· Excellent customer service skills for all client-facing activities
· A willingness to learn and improve their skills
· Possess excellent communication skills that are essential when working in a team environment
· The ability to show empathy towards our patients, clients and other teammates
· Possess a calm and compassionate nature with ability to remain calm in emergency situations
· Ability to adapt to a changing work environment, such as the arrival of emergencies
· Ability to multitask and remain proactive during your shift
What we can offer
Job type: A full-time Permanent position
Salary: AUD 77,000 per year plus superannuation
