About the Role
Thes Youth Clinician will have a direct role in the engagement and coordination of care for young people accessing headspace Albany services. Reporting to the Regional Manager and Clinical Lead, the Youth Clinician's key responsibilities include:
- Provide early intervention mental health services to young people and their family (as appropriate) accessing headspace Albany, including receiving and processing referrals.
- Conduct assessments with young people and their families and friends using agreed tools to determine services required by the young person.
- Deliver evidence-based brief interventions, including group interventions, psychoeducation, and skills training, with young people and their families.
- Liaise with relevant referrers and other services to promote a consistent and coordinated service delivery response for young people and their families.
- Participate in regular clinical case review meeting and multi-disciplinary team meetings to ensure appropriate clinical service pathway and service delivery.
- Develop and implement case formulations and care plans in collaboration with young people, headspace Albany Clinicians and other services where involved.
- Engage with the community to promote early intervention and seeking help for mental and general health issues.
About You
To be considered for this position, you will possess the following:
- Tertiary qualifications (Bachelors or higher) in a relevant discipline, Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Nursing or equivalent.
- Current membership or registration with an appropriate professional body.
- Experience providing Single Session Intervention or Brief Intervention to young people.
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, government policies and strategic directions in relation to mental health and alcohol and other drug disorders, particularly as it relates to young people.
- Demonstrated experience and ability to engage work with and coordinate care for young people aged 12 to 25 years in areas of mental health and substance use intervention.
- The ability to undertake screening and assessment to determine young person's needs level of risk and to refer to other services as appropriate.
- Experience in engaging with young people from ?at risk? populations including LGBTIQA+ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, CaLD communities, young men. and young people who are homeless/ at risk of homelessness.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Willingness to work one late shift till 8:00pm (Tuesday or Wednesday).
- 'C' Class Driver's Licence
