About the Role: We are currently seeking experienced Head Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team at Okami Footscray. If you have a solid background in high-volume kitchen operations, attention to detail, and a passion for delivering high-quality food, we’d love to hear from you. Experience in Asian or Japanese cuisine is highly regarded.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily kitchen operations and supervise kitchen staff.
Cook to order using various techniques and ensure consistent food quality.
Ensure consistent food quality and presentation standards.
Monitor and maintain kitchen equipment and hygiene practices.
Assist management with menu updates and implementation.
Manage inventory, ordering and minimize food waste.
Train kitchen staff on proper procedures and techniques.
Qualifications and Skills:
At least 2 years’ Head Chef experience in a commercial kitchen.
Current Food Handler Certificate is preferred;
Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Experience with Japanese or Asian cuisine is a plus.
Reliable, proactive, and a team player with a passion for hospitality.
Good communication and time management skills.
Good command of spoken and written English.
Must have Australian work rights.
