Head Chef – Harley & Rose, West Footscray

Harley & Rose is a beloved neighbourhood restaurant in Melbourne’s inner west, known for our warm hospitality & wood-fired pizzas. We’re looking for an experienced and inspiring Head Chef to lead our kitchen and carry forward the spirit of Harley & Rose.

About the Role

As Head Chef, you will be responsible for the daily operations of our kitchen. You’ll manage ordering and suppliers, ensure consistency and quality in every dish, and foster a positive and collaborative kitchen culture.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the kitchen team with energy, creativity, and professionalism

Develop and execute menus that reflect Harley & Rose’s style – simple, honest, and produce-driven

Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency

Oversee rostering, ordering, stock control, and food cost management

Train, mentor, and inspire junior chefs and kitchen staff

Ensure food safety and compliance with all health regulations

About You

Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a high-quality, busy venue

Strong knowledge of seasonal Australian produce and modern, Mediterranean-influenced cooking

Leadership skills that inspire respect, teamwork, and dedication

Excellent organisational and time-management abilities

A passion for hospitality and creating memorable dining experiences
