About the role:

The Principal Project Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of support and all projects commissioned within the Microsoft 365 (M365) and Power Platform suite, ensuring smooth transition to support in accordance with the department's approved Project Delivery Methodology (PDM).

This role provides department-wide support for M365 products, including identity and access management for applications. It delivers both proactive and responsive support to application owners, covering break-fix services and enhancement portfolios tailored to evolving business needs.

The Principal Project Manager also oversees the maintenance of applications built on legacy platforms such as Lotus Notes, IBM Forms, and Microsoft Access. A key future responsibility will be to support the retirement of these platforms and facilitate the transition of solutions and skillsets to strategic platforms like Power Platform.

Additionally, the role leads the development and delivery of high-quality solution proposals and implementations across the M365 and Power Platform suite, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technology strategy.

About you:

Can you Demonstrate?

  • Providing department-wide support to the M365 power platform, including identity and access management (Entra ID), ensuring secure, efficient, and user-centric application access.
  • Oversee the maintenance and lifecycle management of legacy applications (e.g. Lotus Notes, IBM Forms, MS Access), and lead their strategic retirement and migration to modern platforms such as Power Platform.
  • Establish and monitor system performance Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), ensuring internal teams and external vendors consistently meet agreed service levels and quality benchmarks.
  • Manage vendor relationships and contracts, ensuring delivery against service obligations and maximising value through effective performance and commercial management.
  • Champion the transition from legacy to strategic platforms, ensuring knowledge transfer and capability uplift across the team to support future-state technologies.
  • Employ and maintain fit for purpose maintenance, support, incident and problem management processes and procedures in alignment with best practice and departmental policies/procedures

Qualifications / Specialist Expertise

  • A relevant IT related degree or qualification will be highly advantageous to this role.
  • Certification in PRINCE 2 or other project management methodology is highly desirable.

Specialist Expertise

  • Agile project experience will be advantageous.
  • Experience in implementing quality principles and supporting frameworks
