We provide essential services including financial support, counselling referrals, education assistance, and social connection programs. About the Role
The Program Coordinator is responsible for leading the design, delivery, and coordination of Legacy WA’s Community Services initiatives, with a particular focus on the Respite and Camp Programs, as well as the Legatee Peer Support and Referral Programs. This role involves developing and implementing evidence-based, high-impact programs that deepen the connection between Legacy WA and the families we support.
This is a dynamic opportunity to create safe, enriching experiences for children and families, while expanding our engagement portfolio through inclusive, values-driven activities that welcome new participants and foster long-term support.
Located in West Perth, with regular travel to our Busselton camp facility, this hands-on position requires robust experience in policy development and risk management, strong people management skills, and the ability to execute operational plans effectively.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Program Leadership & Coordination
Lead the full lifecycle of programs from planning and promotion to delivery and post-program review.
Deliver on-the-ground leadership during community service programs ensuring safety, wellbeing, and engagement of all participants.
Design and implement other inclusive programs that reflect the needs of veteran families and the broader Legacy community.
Provide leadership and support to camp and community service program volunteers
Operations & Risk Management
Develop and maintain program policies, procedures, and risk management plans.
Ensure compliance with child safety standards and duty-of-care obligations.
Coordinate logistics, including equipment, transport, and site readiness
Stakeholder Engagement
Build strong relationships with participants, families, volunteers, facilitators, and Legacy WA staff.
Lead onboarding and training for volunteers, facilitators, and other camp stakeholders.
Represent Legacy WA at community events or partner briefings related to camps and other programs
Promotion & Growth
Manage all communications and enrolments related to programs.
Promote camp and other programs through strategic outreach and community engagement.
Co-design new initiatives that encourage greater participation and feed into the program pipeline.
Funding & Reporting
Contribute to grant applications, funding submissions, and outcome reporting.
Manage program budgets and provide timely reports to leadership and funders
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential
Minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience in coordinating camps, group programs or community events
Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including team supervision and program oversight
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including stakeholder engagement and training delivery.
Experience developing and implementing operational frameworks, policies, or procedures.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within scope, timeframes, and budget
Commitment to inclusive, trauma-informed, and child-safe practices.
Strong alignment with Legacy WA’s mission and values.
Current or willingness to obtain:
Australian Driver’s Licence
Working with Children Check
National Police Clearance
Desirable
First Aid certification
Qualifications in Outdoor Leadership, Community Services, or Project Management.
Experience supporting families affected by trauma or loss.
Experience with camp management systems or digital tools.
Lived experience as a veteran
