About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Craft compelling media releases, speeches, and communication materials that support our strategic and corporate objectives
• Prepare timely and accurate responses to media enquiries
• Contribute to the planning and execution of communication strategies for projects, programs, and initiatives
• Navigate complex and sensitive media issues with sound judgment and discretion
• Deliver high-quality outputs under pressure and tight deadlines—both independently and as part of a small, multi-disciplinary team
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external media representatives to drive engagement and solve communication challenges proactively

Essential Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related discipline
• Local Government Experience
• Proven experience in corporate communications and strategic public relations
• Strong track record in developing and implementing communication strategies and measuring their success
• Skilled in managing media relations, including identifying risks or opportunities and preparing media statements
• Exceptional organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills using research, analysis, and critical thinking to inform decisions
• Current Class C Driver’s Licence
