About the role
Following an operational review, we are creating new full-time Area Manager positions to join our dedicated team within in our Pre-Analytical Operations portfolio. As an Area Manager, you will manage a specific region and act as the Liaison Manager for pathology collection staff working within this region. With the support from our Site Support Services functions, you will be responsible for operational and regulatory management of the area including but not limited to financial, budgetary, risk and human resources. You will be the professional and friendly face that will support employees to provide assurance to patients that they are in excellent hands. Your leadership will foster providing high quality patient care with support and resources provided, whilst also building strong connections and being integral to the local communities our employees work in.
You will be the leader for your region and no day will be the same as you will be travelling to different collection centres and managing staff within a specific geographical area.
Your key responsibilities will include:
· Oversee and manage day-to-day operations of collection centres and staff within your region.
· Develop and implement business strategies and objectives and ensuring optimal operational processes, resource allocation and workflow occurs.
· Ensuring compliance with company standards including but not limited to policies, procedures and accreditation standards.
· Developing, evaluating and monitoring performance objectives.
· Coaching, training, developing and mentoring employees.
· Problem solving.
· Ensuring high levels of customer service across the region, addressing customer complaints, and resolving issues.
· Ensuring effective communication with key stakeholders.
· Provision of management reports which review performance, areas for improvement and challenges.
· Ensuring adherence to budgetary and financial objectives.
· Roster management, ensuring optimal resource workflow.
· Monitoring collection statistics and analysing trends to manage costs and resources effectively.
· Identification and management of risks across the region.
· Participate in the recruitment and selection of staff.
To be successful you will have:
Essential
· Exceptional professional integrity and English communication skills (both verbal and written).
· Exceptional time management skills and able to both lead a large team of employees and work autonomously and independently as required.
· Ability to communicate effectively with the collections team, doctors, patients and with a high level of empathy.
· The ability to be well organised, reliable, with strong attention to detail and demonstrate a positive and professional attitude.
· Willingness to travel using a company vehicle to varying collection centres depending on the need.
· Be proficient in Microsoft Office programs and be confident in using computer programs.
· Previous Management experience leading large teams, workforce planning, exposure to managing labour budgets and developing staff capability through performance coaching.
· A current unencumbered Australian Driver's License & Legal right to work in Australia.
Desirable (but not essential)
· A demonstrated experience and knowledge in Phlebotomy, Pathology or other related healthcare sector with in depth knowledge of pathology practices and laboratory operations desirable
· Tertiary qualification in Business, Management or related dicipline.
· Proven experience in project mangement
· Proven experience processing conducting people reviews
· Proven knowledge of industrial instruments and employment law in Australia.
