Why work with us:

The Office for Early Childhood Development was created to champion change and to help build a system that gives all South Australian children a flying start to life.

Guided by the recommendations of the Royal Commission into Early Childhood Education and Care, the Office for Early Childhood Development is the steward of the early childhood development system in South Australia.

The Office is tasked with a significant responsibility: bringing together a holistic, connected system for early childhood development across South Australia, with the goal of reducing the rate of children entering school developmental vulnerable. Critical to this is the roll-out of universal 3-year-old preschool from 2026, giving every child access to 2 years of teacher-led, play-based early learning before school.

About this role:

As the Implementation Support Officer, Early Childhood, you will be central to the roll-out of universal 3-year-old preschool and other sector-shaping initiatives across South Australia. This is your opportunity to contribute to a statewide movement supporting children’s learning, development, and wellbeing from the earliest years with a team that values collaboration, impact, and community connection.

As a key member of the Local Team, you will:

provide high-level coordination and administrative support to ensure smooth implementation of early childhood reforms.

manage scheduling, meetings, travel logistics, and diary coordination for the Regional Manager and team.

managing administrative processes such as minute-taking, correspondence tracking, document management, and action item follow-ups.

support data collection, minor research, and implementation of local projects.

assist with financial processes, HR tasks, and internal compliance reporting.

act as the first point of contact for stakeholders, ensuring professional, timely, and responsive communication.

foster collaboration by maintaining information systems, databases, and communication channels.

About you-

We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment. If you are organised, proactive, and passionate about supporting communities and improving early childhood outcomes, we want to hear from you.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

excellent communication skills and the ability to engage confidently with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

exceptional organisation and time management skills, including juggling competing priorities under pressure.

strong coordination and problem-solving skills with a commitment to proactive support.

ability to work independently and with initiative, exercising discretion and sound judgment.

competence with ICT systems including Microsoft Office

Role benefits:

You will enjoy:

working within a statewide network of passionate and collaborative Local Teams.

engaging in meaningful work that connects communities, supports service providers, and ensures long-term, equitable outcomes.

enjoying flexible working arrangements with hybrid working options. Part-time (0.5 FTE), flexible working hours also available.

growing your career in a progressive public sector environment offering flexibility, support, and professional development.

This role is open for both part-time and full-time options, giving you the freedom to balance your career and life.

Application Instructions and Information:

Additional Note:

This is a 2-year long-term part-time contract role with the potential to be made ongoing. This role is working initially with Region 4 - Inner Northern Suburbs & Adelaide Hills.
