About the position
Corangamite Shire Council is seeking a Planning Officer to join our team in early October, to support a period of parental leave. This position plays an important role in the administration and operation of Council’s planning functions.
The main responsibilities will include:
Assisting with administering the Planning and Environment Act 1987, the Subdivision Act 1988 and the Corangamite Planning Scheme.
Providing an effective and efficient service in relation to planning permits throughout the Shire.
Promoting compliance with the Shire’s Planning Scheme and related policies through statutory administration, strategic planning and consultation with the community.
Providing clients with a customer-focused, professional service.
Contributing strategic planning projects to achieve Council’s and the community’s planning & environmental objectives.
Assisting in the administration and operation of Council’s planning functions.
About you
Tertiary qualification in Planning or a related field.
Ability to interpret and apply the Planning and Environment Act 1987 and other legislation, with an understanding of the Victoria Planning Provisions and the planning scheme framework.
Ability to undertake planning permit application assessment and interpret maps, plans and architectural drawings.
Ability to use a range of computer applications including the Microsoft Office suite and geographic information systems.
Well-developed written and oral communication skills, with the ability to provide specialist advice to members of the public and other staff on planning related issues.
Current Victorian Driver License and recent National Police Check, or willingness to obtain.
