Location: Albany, Western Australia

The South Coast Region extends 1,200 km from Denmark to the South Australian border and includes 14 national parks and 150 nature reserves covering 2.5 million hectares plus 7 million hectares of unallocated Crown land (UCL). National parks include Torndirrup, Porongurup, Stirling Range, Fitzgerald River, West Cape Howe, Gull Rock, Waychinicup, Stokes, Cape Le Grand, and Cape Arid.

The South Coast Region’s key service deliverables include nature conservation, parks and visitor services and fire management.

We currently have an opportunity for a Regional Business Manager to join our team.

Under the limited (Level 5) or minimal (Level 6) direction from the Regional Manager, this position:

  • Provides leadership and promotes and facilitates change in financial and business management.
  • Ensures the preparation, monitoring and review of business and finance plans for all business being undertaken in the region, including trust funds and ensures that financial data and reports are submitted as required by all funding bodies.
  • Leads the financial and administrative team in the region. Coordinates, prepares, monitors and analyses the South Coast Region budget and expenditure.
  • Ensures business management processes, facilities, systems and practices are efficient, contemporary and consistently applied across the South Coast Region.
  • Responsible for arranging all accounting corrections for South Coast regional based cost centres.

Selection Criteria

  1. Demonstrated (Level 5) or considerable (Level 6) knowledge and experience of financial and procurement management at a supervisory level including an ability to prepare and review a business and / or financial plan for a small business.
  2. Demonstrated analytical, conceptual and organisational skills and an ability (Level 5) or demonstrated ability (Level 6) to compile and interrogate financial information, analyse data and report on trends.
  3. Good (Level 5) or well-developed (Level 6) ability to provide leadership and work in a team environment, particularly to empower peers or co-workers and in championing change management.
  4. Experience in using computer based financial software.
  5. Demonstrated (Level 5) or considerable (Level 6) knowledge and experience in providing financial support and procurement management in a government agency, with a good working knowledge of the Procurement Act 2020, Financial Management Act 2006, State Records Act 2000 and the Public Sector Management Act 1994, Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Commonwealth).
