Looking for a refreshing change? We at Sheltons are seeking a Senior Manager - Business Services for our office in Barangaroo, Sydney, Australia.
You will be working with a small team in modern offices in Barangaroo, in a very international environment.
We at Sheltons Accountants & Business Advisers (Sheltons Group) work exclusively with internationally operating businesses.
Sheltons Group is a well-established 25-year old firm with offices in Sydney, Copenhagen, Malta, London and Singapore - and soon other countries.
You will be part of a stimulating environment and would work closely with a great team of wonderful colleagues from other Sheltons’ offices.

Performance review with possible salary increases each 6 months
Additional limited profit share available after the first year
Role - initially
Managing the clients of the office.
Managing a small handful of staff.
Handling the more complex or important issues (with senior colleagues) of your clients.
Providing non-tax ad hoc client consultancy and advisory matters (with the support of senior colleagues).
Assisting with various client-related projects.
Using the team at your disposal, ensuring the clients of the office are looked after, covering:
with a tax manager and support staff – managing clients' direct and indirect tax compliance requirements in Australia, including BASs, IASs, FBT returns, payroll tax returns in various states, PAYG withholding (including handling interest and royalty withholding tax),
with a tax manager and Ned Shelton - involvement in tax advice including limited Australian international tax advisory matters,
with the legal team based in London and Ned Shelton, attending to company incorporations, SAP applications, ASIC audit exemption applications, company secretarial matters, ABN applications, bank account opening assistance,
handling common company secretarial matters, including the annual reviews, changes of directors, changes of registered office, etc,
providing general business advice and assistance to clients, including introductions to third party suppliers.
Being a small team, your role will likely include a broader range of tasks than you might experience in a large accounting firm. You would of course have close client contact but you would also support our team of accountants with your general business and non-tax knowledge and contacts; we would expect that after a familiarisation period you could also contribute to the fine-tuning and development of our policies and processes; your input regarding training options and choices for colleagues - and software - would be appreciated.
Professional characteristics
Essential:
Have an Australian CA qualification
Recent experience with an Australian accounting firm (minimum 6 years)
A total of at least 8 years relevant experience in Australia
At least some experience with foreign subsidiaries in Australia
Perfect written and spoken English
Excellent relevant IT skills
Proven skills in client management and staff supervision
Ability to gain the confidence of executives, HR and finance staff based in the target group countries: UK, Western Europe and North America
Comfortable doing webinars and being in a business development setting
Ability to eventually travel overseas (business trips)
An advantage if you:
are familiar with Xero and XPM
are a registered tax agent
have worked with Australian-based clients operating overseas
speak another major European language

Considering that most of our work is for UK-based clients, with some from the US and Western Europe, your English language skills need to be at the native level - and preferably above the average level of a native English speaker, both spoken and written.
