The Practice Leader (Alcohol and Other Drugs) key responsibilities are:
- Provide evidence-based advice to Team Leaders, Managers, Senior Practitioners, Practice Leaders and other relevant stakeholders on alcohol and other drugs, in the context of complex practice matters in the delivery of effective and quality child protection services.
- Analyse performance data to identify trends and issues, consider systemic issues and the relationship between multiple performance measures in terms of the impact on service to clients.
- Lead the development of capability across the state in areas of portfolio responsibility (Alcohol and Other Drugs) by developing and maintaining contemporary written practice guidance and facilitating the development and delivery of communities of practice and other learning forums.
- Provide strategic advice to senior officers and coaching and mentoring to Senior Practitioners, Practice Leaders and other regional staff, to deliver a program of work with a focus on improving the quality of the casework and outcomes for children and young people in the child protection system, particularly those impacted by substance misuse issues.
- Implement quality assurance mechanisms that support the monitoring and continuous improvement of services to children, young people, their families and carers, with a focus on alcohol and other drugs.
- Develop enduring and productive service delivery partnerships to support service delivery outcomes, enhance cross-sectoral participation, training and development, and statewide delivery and coordination of child protection services.
- Establish and maintain systems, practices and standards to ensure effective coordination and delivery of services.
- Manage multiple projects including implementation as part of the on-going reform and renewal agenda.
- Contribute to the implementation of the Strengthening Families Protecting Children Framework for Practice across the State with particular reference to developing the capability of staff in strength-based practice and appreciative inquiry to assist in the delivery of quality advice and services about alcohol and other drugs and the impacts in the child protection context.
