Our Opportunity
We are seeking a passionate and experienced leader to join Cafs as the Team Leader Home Based Care. In this pivotal role, you will lead a dedicated team of practitioners delivering high-quality, safe, and nurturing foster, kinship, and permanent care placements for children and young people who cannot live with their birth families. You will play a key role in embedding TBRI as our preferred model of care, supporting carer recruitment and development, and ensuring strong practice oversight and compliance. This is a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact in the lives of children and families across our community.
About You
You are a confident and compassionate leader with a strong background in child and family services. You bring experience in supervising multidisciplinary teams and a deep understanding of Out of Home Care, including foster, kinship, and permanent care. You are committed to trauma-informed practice and have a passion for embedding therapeutic models like TBRI. With advanced capabilities in people management, strategic thinking, and compliance oversight, you are ready to lead with purpose and make a meaningful impact in the lives of children, young people, and carers.
Skills & Attributes
- Minimum Bachelor-level qualification in Social Work, Welfare, Psychology or a related field, with formal training in professional supervision/reflective practice.
- Deep understanding of Out of Home Care, trauma-informed approaches, and therapeutic models such as TBRI.
- Proven ability to lead, support, and develop a multidisciplinary team in a complex and high-demand environment.
- Ability to build strong relationships with carers, colleagues, and stakeholders, and communicate with clarity and influence.

Cafs (Child and Family Services Ballarat) is an independent community service organisation based in Ballarat for over 160 years. We provide over 50 programs across a range of service areas providing care for clients within communities across the central highland region.
