THE ROLE

We’re seeking an experienced Building Surveyor to join our Canberra Airport team. This full-time position offers the chance to work on a diverse and challenging range of projects, including large-scale commercial buildings (Class 3–9) and aviation developments, within a highly regulated and specialised environment. Reporting directly to the Airport Building Controller, you’ll play a key role in ensuring compliance in a federally governed setting, working closely with clients, consultants, and major airport stakeholders.

DUTIES

• Conduct BCA/NCC assessments and provide expert regulatory advice
• Issue permits and authorisations in accordance with the Airports Act 1996 and Airports (Building Control) Regulations 1996
• Undertake on-site inspections and prepare compliance reports
• Engage in performance-based solution assessments in collaboration with fire engineers and Fire & Rescue
• Represent the Airport Building Controller in client meetings, workshops and compliance training sessions
• Navigate a fast-paced, dynamic work environment with confidence and clarity.

• Accredited or eligible for accreditation with AIBS, Access Canberra, Local Government, or the private sector as:
  
• Tertiary qualifications in Building Surveying, Construction, or a related discipline
• Sound knowledge of the BCA (Volumes 1 & 2) and relevant Australian Standards
• Familiarity with the Airports Act and Airport Building Control Regulations will be highly regarded
• Demonstrated experience managing a diverse range of commercial and/or infrastructure projects. We will also consider candidates with residential expereince.
• Strong interpersonal, time management, and written communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Bluebeam Revu
• Australian citizenship (essential for obtaining baseline security clearance)
