Key Responsibilities
Operational Coordination & Resource Management:
Coordinate the logistics of resources (including personnel, equipment, and materials) on-site to ensure that the construction process runs smoothly and efficiently.
Work closely with project managers and site supervisors to align project goals with the effective use of resources, ensuring timelines are adhered to and budget constraints are met.
Schedule the use and maintenance of heavy machinery, ensuring regular pre-operation checks, routine maintenance, and quick resolution of any minor mechanical issues to avoid delays.
Safety Compliance & Risk Management:
Enforce and monitor strict safety protocols on-site to maintain a safe work environment for all team members.
Organise regular safety checks to ensure that all machinery and equipment are in good working condition and that safety guidelines are followed during operations.
Collaborate with safety officers to implement and update site-specific safety protocols, ensuring compliance with both local and national safety regulations
Organise site-specific hazards, conduct risk assessments, and ensure that any identified risks are addressed promptly to minimize safety incidents.
Team Coordination & Communication:
Manage day-to-day communications with site workers, supervisors, and subcontractors, ensuring alignment between different teams and smooth operations.
Provide on-site support to machine operators, labourers, and subcontractors, ensuring they are properly trained on equipment and safety procedures.
Act as the primary point of contact for equipment operators and subcontractors, coordinating schedules and workloads to maximize productivity while maintaining safety.
Assist in the management of labour schedules, ensuring that workers are allocated based on project needs and skill sets.
Data Tracking & Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of machinery usage, loads, and operational times, reporting key metrics on operational efficiency to the project manager.
Generate and review performance reports on equipment usage, safety compliance, and workforce productivity to identify areas for improvement.
Assist with the collection of data for budgeting and resource forecasting to ensure project timelines and resources are aligned with the overall project plan.
Skills & Experience Required
Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting and Finance or related field, with strong knowledge of resource allocation, financial management, and operations .
Experience:
Proven experience in scheduling and resource management, with a track record of maintaining efficient project deadlines.
Hands-on experience with heavy machinery operation and knowledge of safety practices within construction or industrial environments.
Experience in managing safety compliance and risk assessments on-site, ensuring adherence to workplace safety regulations.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other reporting tools for tracking operational data and performance metrics.
Familiarity with construction project management tools is an advantage, or the willingness to learn these tools.
Strong understanding of site safety protocols and equipment maintenance procedures.
Personal Skills:
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to changing project needs and priorities.
Excellent communication skills to work effectively with diverse teams, including machine operators, subcontractors, and senior leadership.
Ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and maintain a high level of attention to detail.
A proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and team collaboration.
