Responsibilities include:
- The strategic direction of the department and relevant individual strategic initiatives.
- Current department demand.
- End users' requirements.
- Potential changes in future demand for products and services.
- Supply markets, including new product and service innovations.
- Opportunities for product and service substitution.
- Performance of current sourcing strategies, contracts and arrangements.
- Whole of government procurement strategies and initiatives that may impact the Department.
- Lead, manage and continue to build a team of branch staff, both public servants and contractors, who undertake a variety of end-to-end procurement activities.
- Provide mentoring, guidance, development opportunities, on-the-job training and advice to branch staff, stakeholders, customers across the department, across government and within industry.
- Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of:
- In conjunction with key stakeholders, lead the development of strategies that deliver Departmental and Government objectives and priorities and minimise risk, including the development of plans for significant procurement.
