Your first day as a Speechie
It’s your first week as a qualified Speech Pathologist. You’re excited… and a little nervous. You’ve studied for years, but the thought of managing your own caseload feels big.
At Ability WA, you won’t be thrown in the deep end. Instead, you’ll shadow experienced clinicians, learn the ropes alongside other new grads, and have a mentor to answer any questions you have.
By the end of your first month, you’ll feel more confident, more capable, and you’ll know you’re part of a team that’s got your back.
Our Graduate Program
Over 2 years, we’ll support you to grow from graduate to confident clinician through:
- Shadowing & observation: Intensive in your first 2 weeks, plus ongoing
- Supervision with team leader: Intensely over the first 6 weeks, then 6 weekly ongoing
- Mentoring: One-on-one support from an experienced Speech Pathologist; access timely clinical support and inspiration on your career pathway
- Professional development: Clinical Lead catch-ups aligned with our 2-year PD schedule
- Peer support: Buddy up with another new starter and join new starter round tables
- Speech Pathologist community: Monthly meetings for shared learning
The role
As a Speech Pathologist with Ability WA, you’ll:
- Deliver evidence-based therapy to people living with disability (with plenty of support to guide you)
- Empower customers living with disability through a person-centred approach
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary therapy team using the key worker model
- Provide therapy at our hubs and in the community
- Work closely with families, schools, hospitals, and other support networks
📍 Positions available in our Wanneroo and Yanchep hubs (Full Time & Part Time).

What you’ll need
To get started, you’ll need (or be on the way to getting):
- A tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology
- Membership with Speech Pathology Australia (or eligibility)
- Driver’s Licence & ability to travel for community visits
- Required checks (NDIS Worker Screening, Working with Children, National Police Clearance, First Aid)
