Experience required: AQF Certificate III including at least two years employment experience
or minimum 3 years employment experience may substitute for qualification.
Job Objective:
The Carpenter is responsible for the construction, erection, installation and repair of structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, wallboard and other materials.
Job Tasks and Duties:
● Site safety, plant and power tool safety;
● Study specifications in blueprint, sketches site conditions to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required;
● All procedures associated with 1st & 2nd Fixing;
● Manual lifting & handling;
● Cut timber & other materials with hand & power tools, nail & assemble cut & shaped parts;
● Erect framework;
● Assemble and fasten materials to make framework and props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue;
● Install structures and move into position;
● Erect scaffolding for assembling of structures;
● Construction of the forms including placement of required supports / propping, connection of shutters via z-bars, levelling of wall and induction of pour height;
● Explain and enforce Occupational Health and Safety requirements and other industrial safety matters;
● Maintain a safe and clean work environment;
● Instruct onsite personnel of lesser experience.
