Your opportunity
Join Mission Australia's Tenancy Sustainability Program in Darwin and make a real difference in the lives of individuals and families who are experiencing difficulties sustaining their tenancy.
As a Support Worker, you will provide practical and person-centred assistance, helping participants access the services and support they need to reach their goals. Working under regular supervision, you will contribute to case management, support program activities, and engage with stakeholders to ensure services are delivered effectively and in line with Mission Australia policies and standards.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to grow your skills while making a meaningful impact in the community.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Provide practical, person-centred support to participants, including assisting with appointments, transport, and day-to-day needs under supervision.
- Support participants with intake, registration, and necessary paperwork to ensure smooth access to services.
- Assist with the implementation of case plans that are sensitive to cultural strengths and individual needs.
- Conduct participant inductions and provide outreach support as required.
- Participate in group work and basic life skills coaching to support individuals and families.
- Contribute to the development and smooth operation of the program through team involvement, projects, and quality improvement activities.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to maintain strong working relationships and promote effective service delivery.
Requirements for success
- Relevant diploma or certificate in a related field; some experience in a similar role is an advantage but not essential.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificates
- Current valid WWCC and Drivers licence
- Ability to follow policies and procedures while learning new processes quickly.
- Basic administrative, written, and verbal communication skills, including familiarity with databases and mobile technology.
- Strong listening skills and a positive, person-centred approach that believes in participants' capacity to grow.
- Professional approach to the role, including maintaining appropriate boundaries.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and contribute to a supportive workplace.
- A willingness to learn and develop skills while actively supporting participants in achieving their goals.
Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
