About the role

Reporting to the Head Chef, this full-time Sous Chef role offers an exciting opportunity to join the dynamic culinary team at The "Q" Dining - Modern Vietnamese Fusion Cuisine , a highly regarded restaurant located in Phillip, ACT. As Sous Chef, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Head Chef in the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, ensuring the delivery of exceptional dining experiences for our guests.

What you'll be doing

Assisting the Head Chef in the overall management and coordination of kitchen operations

Preparing high-quality, innovative dishes using fresh, locally sourced ingredients

Overseeing the work of the kitchen brigade, providing guidance, training and mentorship to junior chefs

Ensuring strict adherence to food safety and hygiene standards

Participating in menu development and menu item costing

Liaising with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless customer service

Assisting with inventory management and ordering of kitchen supplies

What we're looking for

Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Sous Chef or equivalent role in a reputable restaurant or hotel kitchen

Formal culinary training and a recognised qualification in hospitality or culinary arts

Demonstrable experience in leading and mentoring a team of chefs

Strong working knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations, including HACCP principles

Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Passion for creating innovative and visually appealing dishes using seasonal, locally sourced ingredients

A collaborative and adaptable approach to teamwork

Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (minimum) or Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (preferred)

Full Australian work rights (Australian citizen, permanent resident, or valid work visa)
