As part of the research team, you will:

  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis, including surveys, interviews, and focus groups with trans, gender-diverse, non-binary communities, psychiatrists, other mental health practitioners.
  • Through interviews, examine publicly available models of gender-affirming healthcare (including surgery) in jurisdictions outside Australia.
  • Contribute to, lead and submit peer-reviewed research publications and reports.
  • Maintain ethical approvals and manage research risks.
  • Present findings at conferences, workshops, and other public engagement channels.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community, academic, and policy stakeholders.
  • Support funding applications and develop collaborative partnerships with research organisations, industry, and government.

What will help you succeed

  • A doctoral qualification or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in qualitative (focus groups/interviews) and quantitative (surveys, validated scales) research methods.
  • Proven track record in contributing to and leading peer-reviewed research publications in a relevant field.
  • Strong project management skills, including planning, documentation, and meeting deadlines.
  • Stakeholder engagement skills, with sensitivity and respect when working with vulnerable communities.
  • Experience with relevant software, including MS Office, MS Teams or Zoom, NVivo, and statistical packages such as SPSS or R.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent time management, adaptability, and communication skills.
