The Role

Guided by the College mantra – If this were my child, what would I want / do? – the Assistant Director of Junior School (Wellbeing) plays a pivotal role in leading and coordinating wellbeing initiatives across the Junior School. As a key member of the Junior School Leadership Team, the role supports the holistic development of students, fostering a high challenge/high support learning environment and promoting a culture of care, inclusion and growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage wellbeing programs and pastoral care initiatives for students from Kindergarten to Year 6.

Collaborate with staff, families and external professionals to support student wellbeing.

Coordinate Junior School assemblies, the Buddy Program, and student leadership opportunities.

Oversee the Junior School House System and cocurricular programs.

Support staff in behaviour management and wellbeing strategies.

Contribute to the development of a seamless K–13 pastoral care journey.

Deputise for the Director of Junior School as required.

About You

Able to commence in January 2026, you are an experienced educator with a passion for student wellbeing and holistic education. You are a collaborative leader who thrives in a dynamic environment and is committed to fostering strong relationships with students, staff and families.

You bring a growth mindset, a deep understanding of child development and a proactive approach to pastoral care. Your leadership style is inclusive and empathetic, and you are confident in managing wellbeing programs and supporting staff in their professional growth.

Essential criteria include:

Demonstrated leadership experience in student wellbeing or pastoral care.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Proven ability to build rapport with students, families and staff.

High level organisational and problem-solving skills.

Relevant tertiary qualifications (preferably at Master’s level).

Current TRBWA registration.

A current Working with Children Check.
