About the role
As the Aboriginal Intensive Family Support Worker at WADJAK NORTHSIDE ABORIGINAL COMMUNITY (ABORIGINAL CORPORATION)' in partnership with MercyCare, you will play a crucial role in providing intensive support and case management to Aboriginal families in the Mirrabooka and Joondalup area. This full-time position is focused on strengthening families, preventing child protection involvement, and promoting the wellbeing of children and young people.
What you'll be doing
Providing intensive, tailored support to Aboriginal families, including practical assistance, advocacy, and referrals to relevant services
Developing and implementing individualised support plans to address the unique needs of each family
Collaborating with other service providers, such as child protection agencies, schools, and community organisations, to coordinate holistic support
Empowering families to build their own capacity and resilience, promoting sustainable change
Documenting case progress, maintaining accurate records, and reporting on outcomes
Actively participating in team meetings, professional development, and continuous improvement initiatives
What we're looking for
Significant experience in child welfare, youth, or family services, preferably within an Aboriginal community context
Demonstrated understanding of the complex issues facing Aboriginal families and the ability to provide culturally appropriate support
Strong case management skills, including the ability to assess needs, develop support plans, and monitor progress
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with clients
Relevant tertiary qualifications in social work, community development, or a related field
A valid driver's licence and willingness to travel within the local community
