ABOUT THE ROLE
As part of the Wooree Miya suite of family domestic violence support services, Moorditj Bidi (meaning "Strong Path" in Noongar language) is a Rapid Rehousing Pilot program designed for Aboriginal women and children.
The service offers:
A responsive, culturally informed approach to family and domestic violence, designed to support eligible Aboriginal women—with or without children—to transition from crisis accommodation to stable, long-term tenancies in the private rental market.
Substantial subsidies toward bond and rent (for private rental only).
FDV Outreach through in-home support for individuals and families transitioning from refuge to transitional or private housing, or other accommodation options.
Four transitional properties to eligible clients exiting refuge.
The Aboriginal Family Support Worker role is a purpose-driven position for individuals with lived experience, providing opportunities for empowerment and self-determination as clients navigate both internal and external services, as well as community opportunities.
This role is particularly vital in supporting individuals during critical times, such as:
Emotional and practical support (e.g. confidence building, support with applications, etc.)
Transitions into and out of accommodation (e.g. planning to move, help to move, connecting to community and supports, etc.)
Managing unsafe situations (e.g. empowering the individual and family to manage safety, etc.)
Addressing challenges related to housing stability (e.g. supporting negotiation and self-advocacy, etc.)
