About the Role
We’re looking for a Training Product Development Team Lead to take the reins on delivering innovative, nationally consistent training products that shape the future of Australia’s mining and automotive sectors.
This is a leadership role with real impact, you’ll oversee complex, end-to-end projects while guiding a small team and collaborating with industry and government stakeholders. From project delivery and budget oversight through to stakeholder engagement, you’ll ensure every training product we create is future-focused, nationally aligned, and responsive to evolving workforce needs.
Working closely with the Project Management Office, Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), unions, regulators, and government representatives, you’ll also represent AUSMASA at national forums and consultations, giving you the opportunity to be a voice for industry and to help shape the national Vocational Education and Training (VET) reform agenda.
This is a Fixed-Term opportunity till June 2028.
Key Focus Areas
Project leadership: Lead multiple nationally accredited vocational education and training (VET) product development from design through delivery, ensuring high-quality outcomes on time and within budget.
Financial management: Establish and oversee budgets for all training product initiatives; contribute to reporting alongside the Project Management Office (PMO).
Stakeholder engagement: Build relationships with industry leaders, Registered Training Organisation (RTOs), unions, regulators, and government stakeholders; use feedback to continuously refine products.
Governance & documentation: Prepare proposals, briefs and updates for Strategic Workforce Advisory Panels (SWAPs) and Technical Advisory Groups (TAGs), senior leadership, and external stakeholders.
Supplier management: Procure and manage subcontractors to meet agreed deliverables.
Sector leadership: Collaborate with other Jobs & Skills Councils and represent AUSMASA at national forums to progress shared outcomes.
About You
You’re a collaborative and strategic project leader with deep VET expertise and a proven ability for navigating complexity. You bring:
5+ years’ experience in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector, with demonstrated application of nationally accredited training packages.
Relevant higher-level qualifications (e.g., education management, business administration, workforce planning).
Strong understanding of the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) and the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF), and their application to training product development.
Proven ability to lead a team and mentor people across concurrent projects.
Solid budget management and reporting experience.
Demonstrated ability to engage diverse stakeholders, balancing consultation and problem-solving to achieve positive outcomes.
Experience in procurement and subcontractor management.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent).
Highly organised, adaptable, solutions-focused; comfortable with ambiguity and competing priorities.
Desirable
Knowledge of the mining and/or automotive industries.
Experience working in a small, national team environment.
Ability to analyse VET data (e.g., survey outcomes, enrolments, workforce trends) to inform decisions and reporting.
