With an accessible elevation of almost 600m from the top of Sam Hill down to the trail head in Livingston Park this network is set to get hearts racing as they descend our professionally built network.
OMTB is true ride in ride out destination with a huge variety of trail from green beginner riverside trails to XC adventures for those with the legs. E bikers will have a blast and for those looking to shuttle to maximise your descents then we will have over 10 gravity focussed trails on the hills of Sam Hill and Mt Mesley.
The Opportunity
As a Maintenance Officer working on the Omeo Mountain Bike Trails, you’ll take pride in maintaining, grooming, repairing and improving the trail network to ensure the infrastructure is fit for purpose. You’ll conduct regular inspections on foot or bike, record safety issues and carry out maintenance by priority level.
You will have a good understanding of cultural and environmental impact, while ensuring the trail corridor is free from hazards such as vegetation, trees and branches etc.
You’ll also help maintain all plant and equipment including hand tools, outsourcing where required.
This is a casual position based in Omeo.
You will be required to be part of an on-call roster being available to attend site within 20-30 minutes.
Things You’re Proud Of (Key Selection Criteria)
- Experience in Mountain Bike trail maintenance/building
- High level of fitness and experience working in an outdoor environment
- Knowledge of MTB trail maintenance principals.
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A current, valid Victorian Driver’s licence.
If successful, you will need to undertake a police check, pre-employment medical check and hold a current and valid employee Working with Children Check. You must also be legally entitled to work in Australia.
Qualifications and Experience;
- A current, valid Victorian Driver’s licence.
- Experience in the construction and maintenance of MTB trails
- High level of physical fitness, ability to work in an outdoor environment.
- Understanding of trail sustainability.
Desirable:
- Chainsaw qualification and relevant experience, ideally at felling level.
- Extensive experience as a Mountain Bike Rider
- Understanding of trail tools, machines and the ability to diagnose and repair equipment.
- Motorbike and or ATV license + experience
- Excavator operator ticket and experience with mini excavator
- Understanding of weed management and an associated accreditation
- First Aid + CPR
