About the Role
The TA Branch is looking for a Systems Administrator to join the technical evolution and sustainment of critical capability providing cryptographic support to whole of Government, including to the Australian Defence Force and its operations.
This opportunity will suit Systems Administrators interested in enhancing their career opportunities and expanding their skills across a wide range of technologies.
As a Systems Administrator in TA Branch, you will work alongside a highly committed technical workforce required to transition new capability into operation and ensure ongoing sustainment of this capability. You will also assist in the decommissioning of legacy capability and contribute to the enhancement of existing bespoke capability.
This role provides a unique environment in assisting ASD to meet one of its core functions and your work will require that you;
- Maintain and support systems, software, databases and associated hardware.
- Install and sustain new capability and assist in its transition to operations.
- Assist in the enhancement of bespoke capability.
- Collaborate to problem solving and leverage this to achieve outcomes.
- Apply experience and knowledge across a breadth of hardware and software solutions.
- Grow an understanding of cryptography and IT security.
- Use technical knowledge and leadership to mentor and develop junior staff.
- Be flexible to evolve operational approaches whilst ensuring a strong security culture.

About the Team
ASD’s Trust & Assurance Branch within Cyber Security Division, ACSC Group, oversees and delivers security assurance functions for Australia’s most classified Government systems. Our work is comprised of classified security assurance, protect oriented services and technical advice, driven by threat intelligence, framed by the Australian Protective Security Policy Framework and Information Security Manual. This Branch also develops and sustains unique ICT infrastructure critical to the delivery of the ASD mission.
Trust and Assurance Branch (TA) seek candidates who are interested in System Administrator positions, across a variety of operating systems, virtualisation, networking and database technologies. This team operates in a highly collaborative and multi-disciplinary environment, with a diverse range of backgrounds and skillsets. They tackle complex technical tasks, leverage internal knowledge and skills, as well as the expertise of subject matter specialists around them.
