The Team:
Join a dynamic and collaborative Pharmacy and Infectious Diseases team dedicated to delivering high-quality care across inpatient and outpatient settings. As the Infectious Diseases Pharmacist, you will work closely with Infectious Diseases Consultants, Advanced Trainees, medical, pharmacy and nursing staff to provide a contemporary and evidence-based infectious diseases service.
You will play a pivotal role in the governance and daily operations of the Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) program, contributing to safe and effective antimicrobial use across the organisation. Your expertise will support the development and review of clinical guidelines, drive quality improvement initiatives, and enhance education for healthcare professionals and consumers.

The Role:
Undertake Clinical Pharmacy activities associated with the Infectious Diseases service:
- Act as a pharmacy lead in the review and implementation of improvements to working practices and systems within the Agency in relation to antimicrobial stewardship in accordance with the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHS)
- Act as a senior member of the pharmacy department
- Support the Clinical Pharmacy team
- Support the Statewide Hospital Pharmacy Operations Unit
- Actively participate in and contribute to the organisation’s Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes, including in the development and implementation of safety systems, improvement initiatives and related training.
- The incumbent can expect to be allocated duties, not specifically mentioned in this document, that are within the capacity, qualifications and experience normally expected from persons occupying positions at this classification level.
You will need:
- Proven wide experience in practicing as a pharmacist, including both dispensing and clinical pharmacy practice, together with experience in an infectious disease setting with well-developed current knowledge relating to antimicrobial medications.
- Demonstrated experience working as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team, together with proven problem solving and conflict resolution skills to resolve practice-based issues and interpersonal conflict amongst team members.
- Experience in providing education and training to pharmacy, medical and nursing staff, and developing and implementing programs and policies which improve multidisciplinary medication management.

Pharmacy Careers in the Tasmanian Health Service
Details of appointment:
Permanent part time, day worker position, working 30.4 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
This position is a job share, required days will be Monday and Tuesdays.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $110,425 to $121,907 per annum pro rata. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022.
Salary Packaging:
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
Allowances:
- Please note that access to salaries beyond $119,290 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum
- A market allowance of $10,000 per annum pro rata is applicable to this role

Position Features:
- Occasional intra and interstate travel may be required
- Participate in a roster with other pharmacists for out-of-hours pharmacy services as needed
Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.
- Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Pharmacy Board of Australia or completion of an overseas qualification eligible for skills assessment through the Australian Pharmacy Council.
- Registered with the Pharmacy Board of Australia
- For pre-registration (intern) pharmacists: Eligible for provisional registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia.
