Required skills and experience

Qualifications or experience in disability, nursing, AoD, community services or mental health

Have a genuine respect for people with disability and a commitment to providing them dignified and personalised care.

Ability to present with confidence as a professional which engenders trust from participants who rely on you to meet their support needs.

Ability and willingness to identify client needs and additional opportunities to assist them achieve their goals within the way you work with them.

Ability to create a friendly rapport with participants to allow them to feel comfortable and respected.

Excellent documentation practice

Display a relationship centred approach to care and understanding of or willingness to learn about other methods of care (e.g., trauma informed; family centred)

Ability and confidence to work autonomously and contribute to a support plan which is being implemented by a team of staff around a participant.

Willingness to undertake hand-over and supervision remotely using email, phone and video conferencing when required.

Duties

Personal Care/Support/Residential Care Officer

Assisting people in carrying out essential daily tasks such as dressing, bathing, grooming, tooth brushing, medicine administration, and restroom use.

Supporting the client’s physical and mental health with routine checks, administering prescriptions and measuring blood pressure.

Providing a safe environment for the client by monitoring their surroundings for potential dangers such as fire hazards and tripping hazards.

Collaborating with other healthcare providers to coordinate clients' care plans.

Household Support

Providing a diverse range of activities such as arts & crafts or games for clients who can’t go outside.
Supporting clients socially and arranging visits or outings in the community.

Identifying needs and developing plans for improving the quality of life for those suffering from disabilities or mental health issues.

Emotional Support

Providing a diverse range of activities such as arts & crafts or games for clients who can't go outside.

Supporting clients socially and arranging visits or outings in the community.

Identifying needs and developing plans for improving the quality of life for those suffering from disabilities or mental health issues.

Supports families and provides education and care for children and disabled persons in adult service units, group housing and government institutions

Assesses clients' needs and plans, develops and implements educational, training and support programmes

Interviews clients and assesses the nature and extent of difficulties

Monitors and reports on the progress of clients
