Join the City of Canning and play a pivotal role in the City achieving and maintaining long term financial sustainability through financial planning for the future in the position of Coordinator Strategic Finance on a permanent, full time basis.

About the role

The role reports to the Manager Finance and will be responsible for driving a strategic business partnering approach to developing and delivering the City’s long term financial plan, annual budgeting and financial management services, including reporting to Council. You will lead a team of financial specialists focused on delivering exceptional internal customer service, while driving collaboration across the City’s business units. This role also includes responsibility for preparing the annual budget and developing the long-term financial plan to support strategic decision-making and sustainable growth

In this role, you will undertake duties such as:

Achieving the City’s long term financial goals through a business partnering approach and provision of specialist financial advice.

Developing the long-term financial plan and annual budget

Evaluating business cases for projects and their financial impact

Financial modelling on service reviews and projects

Monthly financial and management reporting to the Executive Team and the Council

Leading a team of highly skilled finance professionals to build financial capability throughout the City

Skills & Experience

CPA, CA or equivalent Accounting qualification required

Tertiary qualifications in accounting, business, commerce or related discipline

At least 5 years’ experience in a similar level role with leadership responsibilities

Demonstrated experience delivering financial analysis, monitoring financial budgets, developing long term financial planning and annual budgets
