Business Development Officer – Education (Manual Arts)

Our client, a leading supplier of high-quality tools, equipment and consumables, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Business Development Officer to drive growth within the education sector, with a focus on Manual Arts (Industrial Arts) programs across schools, TAFEs, and training institutions. This is a unique opportunity to combine your sales expertise with a passion for education and hands-on learning.

This role could be well suited for someone with experience as an educator in Manual Arts and with sales and business development experience.

Key Responsibilities

Identify and develop new business opportunities in schools and training organisations.

Build and maintain strong relationships with educators, Heads of Department, and procurement teams.

Deliver product demonstrations, presentations, and workshops.

Prepare tailored proposals and quotations in line with budgets and funding requirements.

Represent the organisation at education trade shows, conferences, and networking events.

Achieve sales targets and provide regular reporting on progress and pipeline.

Key Selection Criteria

Strong understanding of the education sector, ideally within Manual Arts disciplines (woodwork, metalwork, design, or engineering).

Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage school decision-makers.

Consultative sales approach with proven ability to identify client needs and provide tailored solutions.

Knowledge of school procurement processes, funding models, and budget constraints.

Self-motivated and results-driven, with the ability to manage a territory independently.

Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Qualifications & Experience

Proven experience in business development or sales, preferably within education, vocational training, or a related industry.

Knowledge of Manual Arts curriculum, tools, or equipment is highly desirable.

Existing networks within the education sector will be highly regarded.

Employment Details

Location: Queensland (travel within region required).

Employment Type: Permanent full-time role, 43 weeks per year, aligning with the QLD education calendar.

Remuneration: Circa- $95K - $105K per annum. Competitive salary package with performance-based incentives.

Reports to: Sales Director.
