What's the role?
The General Manager Recycling and Social Impact at Scouts WA plays a crucial role in delivering profitable social enterprises for the organisation primarily through the Container Deposit Scheme business. This role works with a high degree of autonomy to continue the strong human, social, and financial success of the container deposit scheme across Scouts WA’s four depots. The role will also be responsible for developing a business plan to improve the standard and increase utilisation of all Scouts WA facilities, in collaboration with local volunteers, to increase Scouting’s social impact within the communities where we have a presence. This role reports directly to the Executive Manager and is a member of the senior management team.
What is the scope of responsibilities?
The General Manager Recycling and Social Impact is accountable for ensuring the day-to-day operation, growth, and community benefit of Scouts WA’s recycling centres. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Purchasing and maintaining plant and equipment.
Supporting depot managers with employment of staff to meet business demands with appropriate financial and social responsibility.
Ensuring all operations are undertaken within budget.
Exploring opportunities to expand CDS operations and improve profitability.
Promoting donations by volume partners.
Overseeing marketing program.
Improving condition and utilisation of Scouts WA facilities.
What skills and knowledge do you need?
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Sound knowledge in management, operations, and business administration, ideally in manufacturing and associated industries and occupations.
Experience supervising and leading staff.
Competence in using office software and computing concepts.
Working knowledge of regulatory compliance relevant to workplace safety, environmental standards, and commercial operations.
Forklift license or heavy vehicle license (beneficial).
Familiarity with Scouts WA structures, services, or the Scouting movement (beneficial).
What expertise is necessary?

Bachelor of Commerce or equivalent management experience over a period of at least 5 years;
Previous experience in a relevant industry, service or an equivalent level of expertise and experience to undertake the range of activities required; or
Appropriate on-the-job training and relevant experience in facilities management

Pass relevant Child Safety and Vulnerable People Safeguarding checks, including National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check.
Complete and maintain mandatory child safety, WHS, code of conduct training modules.
Satisfy an employment medical evaluation upon hiring, or as requested by management.
Work a flexible roster, including occasional early mornings, evenings, and weekends as reasonable and required.
