We are currently seeking an experienced General and Heavy Haulage Supervisor to work with a dedicated team in our specialised Transport Division. This role will entail overseeing wharf and shipment unloading and supervising other specialised project work. The role is a full-time permanent position - salaried. This salary incorporates the out of hours nature of this type of work including weekend work and night work and remote location work for some projects.
The Wharf/Transport/Project Supervisor is responsible for:
Provide on-site / on the job supervision of drivers, suppliers (police, pilots, other road authorities) and customer updates whilst in movement including operations out of the wharf
Participate and support the preparation of specialised moves to ensure they are undertaken safely and efficiently. These moves can be ingauge or out of gauge loads
Monitoring performance and conducting Safe Act Observations of the task
Maintaining a log of work and any incidents, damage or events within the timeline
Participate in job review meetings - providing feedback for continuous improvement
Escalation point for contingency plans
Provide Pilot escort support when necessary
Coach or train drivers unfamiliar with the task or trip plan
Run toolbox / pre work meeting with all involved in a project before commence (both before job and at start of job) and ensure all paperwork is in place, available and accurate for the task at hand. ie. measure and check measure also conducted.
Conduct regular checks of job in progress
To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate the follow key qualities:
Knowledge of NHVAS, Form 4 Guidelines, Permit scheme and other transport legislation
Prior experience OSOM (essential) - ie. heavy haulage, out of gauge movements
NHVAS - BFM accreditation (desirable not essential)
Ability to meet deadlines
Abstract thinker - able to work in a changing environment and drive efficiencies and performance within changing conditions.
Highly organised and methodical in paperwork and process
Good time management skills
MC licence (essential)
Pilot Licence (essential) - level 2 preferred
DG / MSIC - desirable but not essential
Balanced approach which incorporates safety
desire to deliver excellent customer service
