Salary: $79,763 - $82,633 per annum + 12% super + weekend penalties

The Waste and Fleet team are seeking a passionate and community-focused Senior Recycling Officer to lead operations at the Fremantle Recycling Centre. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on engaging with the public, delivering outstanding customer service, attention to detail and driving positive environmental outcomes through innovative recycling and resource recovery practices. The Fremantle Recycling Centre is an award-winning service provided for City of Fremantle residents and includes a Reuse Shop and Household Hazardous Waste facility. It is open to the public on Fridays 12-4pm, Saturday to Sunday 8am-4pm (closed public holidays, and neighbours the Fremantle Containers for Change Refund Point. The roster is from Thursday to Monday, on a 9-day fortnight, alternating Thursdays as your RDO.
Key responsibilities include:
To actively engage with the community to provide advice and support on recycling and resource recovery.
To operate the Fremantle Recycling Centre including the operation of the Reuse Shop and ensuring recyclable materials are received, sorted and disposed of efficiently, cost-effective and without contamination.
Administration of Fremantle Recycling operations, including staff management, cash handling, OH&S, data entry and reporting.
To be considered for this position, you will need:
Good communication and customer service skills.
Good administration and computer skills (including Microsoft Office / Excel).
Material handling experience and knowledge.
Knowledge of material recyclability and recycling industry.
Self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision.
Excellent time management skills.
Able to identify problems and develop solutions.
Commitment to working weekends.
Commitment to safe working practices and to safety procedures.
Possession of a HR license, excavator, and forklift ticket.
Desirable:
Experience working in the recycling and resource recovery industry.
Possession of skid steer ticket.
Possession of a current First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain).
