About the role

The Drilling Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the part of initial construction phase of our projects. In this middle management role, they lead a team of up to 40 skilled workers in all aspects of drilling, with a focus on compliance, quality, and productivity. They are also in charge of coordinating the workforce and ensuring machinery maintenance and repairs to minimise any disruptions to the construction schedule

Salary/ Wage

$43.50 to $46 per hour plus penalties

Where you'll be working

Initially based on our project located at Brodsound Solar Farm and then to one of our projects across the Country

Ideally, you’re someone who… is an experienced Supervisor in the solar farm construction industry with high-level leadership, time management, and people skills. You will be proud of maintaining high standards of work in quality, productivity, and positive outcomes for our team. You will be passionate about upskilling our employees and ensuring their safety on a daily basis. A continuous improvement mindset is essential, and a healthy ability to challenge current processes and procedures to ensure that our organisation is always developing and growing.

Main duties and responsibilities

Lead crew of up to 40 people

Deep understanding of different methods and processes of drilling (eg Down the hole hammering, PDC bits, Hammers, fluids, compressors).

Oversee all activities relating to drilling (survey, drilling, backfill)

Monitor and report productivity rates and progress

Ensure compliance with quality standards

Ensure safe working procedures

Provide training and coaching to operators

Strong knowledge and willingness to support maintenance being carried out on the machines, and knowledge of how to properly maintain all drilling components.

Continuous improvement to safety and quality

Problem-solving skills. Identify bottlenecks and helping strategically overcome these.

Experience/ Qualifications

Essential

Min 2 Years experience as a Supervisor

Min 3 years’ Experience with drilling equipment

Unrestricted Australian Driver’s License

White Card

Tickets RIINHB330 Conduct down-hole hammer drilling & RIINHB306E Conduct large diameter auger drilling (or RIINHB305E Conduct continuous flight auger drilling) or a desire to obtain

Desirable

Other operator tickets (ie Telehandler, Skid steer, excavator and truck)

First Aid Certificate

Knowledge in Geology and ground conditions to apply different drilling methods to changing ground conditions
