The South Australian Potato Company is currently seeking an experienced Mobile Plant Operator that can carry out all activities in regards to the production of high quality potatoes and harvesting of the crop with general Cereal Crops.

The candidate would be responsible for operating Harvesters and Tractors as well as preparing and positioning the plant for operation. The candidate will also be required to work in a hands-on role carrying out other potato and farm related activities such as managing centre pivot irrigators, fertilizing, spraying and general farming activities.

The candidate will be required to work at various farm locations including Peebinga and Parilla in the Mallee region of SA.

Key Responsibilities

Mobile plant operations including preparation and positioning.

Operating Agricultural machinery, tractor, tractor-dawn implements and self-propelled equipment in routine operations on the farm.

Adjusting speed, height and depth of implements.

Servicing plant and performing minor repairs.

Maintaining records for activities carried out.

Operating centre pivot irrigation systems.

Operating Harvesters and Tractors.

General farm maintenance.

Other general farm activities as required.

The position requires the candidate to be available for weekend work and harvesting at night when required in rotation with the Farm Manager.

Key Attributes and Experience sought from the ideal candidate

Experience in potato production with potato harvesting experience highly regarded.

General Cereal crops and cover crops

Must possess and strong work ethic and be willing to work as part of a team.

Previous experience in managing staff will be highly regarded.

Sound communication, computer and reporting skills required.
