This pool recruitment process will be used to fill permanent, fixed term, full time and part time vacancies that may arise over a period of 12 months from the date of finalisation of the recruitment process. Fixed term appointments may be made with the possibility of extension/s and/or permanency. There is currently one (1) permanent full time vacancy available.
About the role
Are you passionate about ensuring that people have access to justice and understand their legal rights?
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Administration Officer/Paralegal to join our team in Albany. We are a small friendly team providing legal services to the community. The office is busy and can be demanding but the work is also very rewarding. Training will be provided, and you will have the opportunity to develop paralegal skills in the role.
You will spend a large part of your day being the first point of contact with the public and assisting them with accessing help for their legal issues. That will involve screening phone calls, emails and in-person enquiries, matching and connecting clients to legal services, or where appropriate, providing legal information or referrals.
You will also undertake a wide range of tasks such as scheduling appointments, preparing our court lists, data entry, liaising with internal and external stakeholders, and providing administrative support to our lawyers so they can provide legal assistance to our clients in a timely manner.
About you
The position is ideal for someone with strong administration, word processing and data entry skills. Proven ability to work with minimal supervision and knowledge of Microsoft Office is essential. We are looking for applicants with well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, who feel comfortable working with people from diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds, over the telephone and in person. An ability to work well as part of a small team is essential. Prior paralegal experience is not essential.
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Enjoy working in a small team and engaging with members of our community
- Have good keyboard and computer skills
- Be able to communicate well with staff and clients
- Have a desire to provide assistance to our clients and be comfortable assisting people from diverse backgrounds, including clients with special needs or who are distressed due to their legal issues
- Have good organisational skills and meet deadlines
- Be keen to learn and share knowledge
- Previous experience in a legal setting is desirable but not essential.
About us and what we can offer you
We offer a strong team working environment, the satisfaction of adding value to the community, and a range of benefits in line with business requirements, which may include professional development opportunities, flexible working and leave arrangements and a range of health and wellbeing initiatives.

Should no suitable candidate be identified, or an offer declined, the panel may search for further candidates beyond the closing date.
